AURèCE VETTIER

Up to July 13

ECHOES FROM THE PAST, PROMISES OF THE FUTURE

On this occasion, aurèce vettier will unveil “la traversée de la forêt – crossing the forest” a large ensemble of monumental works produced specifically for the event, including three tapestries created with an art workshop in Aubusson, as well as a collection of bronze sculptures.

Additionally, three works from the award-winning series “le travail des rêves” will be presented, along with AI-generated butterflies sculptures created in collaboration with designer Katarzyna Cichy.

“The remembrance of Nature fades over time, to the point that humans unconsciously adapt to an environment in constant degradation, which, with each generation, becomes the norm. American psychologist Peter H. Kahn refers to this gradual acclimatization as ‘environmental generational amnesia.’ To combat this progressive forgetting, researchers are joining forces to imagine a new way of writing history through the lens of ecology to reconnect with the living world.

Thus, a collective intelligence uniting artists and scientists harnesses new technologies, particularly digital tools, as a means to reconnect with a forgotten nature and preserve its memory.

Through a plurality of works – painting, video, tapestry, installation, virtual reality, sculpture… – the exhibition invites fifteen artists to reconcile nature and technology and rethink our relationship with the living world. Presented in three stages, it revives the past of a damaged nature, then explores both its ingenuity and its fragility to raise awareness about its preservation, and finally reveals speculative futures imagined by the artists, where anticipatory narratives resonate with the hope of symbiosis.”
